I have XP and my hard drive:C has FAT32 filing system on it. I just put in another drive to use as a slave. When I formatted it I tried to put FAT32 on it. For some reason it would not complete the formatting. So I tried with NTFS and it formatted it. So now my Cdrive is FAT32 and my E drive is NTFS. It seems to be OK. Did I do the right thing?

Yup, odds are you had trouble formatting with FAT32 since FAT32 works VERY badly with an HD over 32GB. Although it is possible to have a FAT32 partition over 32GB it's a bad idea and iwndows typically won't even offer it as an option.

If you're worried about having a diffrent FS on diffrent drives don't. It's not a problem at all. It's quite common, and it's also sort of nice to have a FAT32 partition kicking around, because older versions of windows can't read NTFS partitions.
