Fatal System Error

I have just downloaded IE 7 then my trouble started.
I restarted just as directed.
I cannot do anything in safe mode / last restore point nothing.

I have a dell demention 2400 with xp home service pack 2 or 3 (dont recall but the newest) .

Heres my error message..

Fatal system error
The windows logon process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xC0000142 (0x00000000 0x00000000) the system has been shut down.

 

Hi there and welcome to MG's

Try a hard shut down ( meaning shut of PC by the power button )
Wait a minute or so
Start it up again via the power button
Then pressing F8 continuosly
When you see the screen open scroll down to ( Last Known good Configuration )
Then press enter and follow the instructions from there carefully.
