    Hello Major Geekers,

This is a rouge timeline of my troubles.

First issue was a BSOD after windows update and AVG update both attempted to apply changes during reboot. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix this, I believe it was a system repair from my Win7 64 disc. Also, I am an idiot for having AVG... (it used to be ok?)

Then, my computer (wired connection) and other computers on the network began having "resolving host" appear in the browser. I did some googling and found an incompatibility with my ISP and router. I changed the DNS servers on my router to Google's (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.8.4). This resolved most of the network issues, and all of the problems with Chrome getting stuck at "resolving host".

Last night, I restarted my computer and chkdsk ran. After the reboot, I could not connect to the internet. In the Network and Sharing Center, I was stuck at "identifying" indefinitely. I looked at ipconfig /all and found there was no default gateway.

Today Windows Update service was turning itself off. There was a message "Click here to find out more free software available from (null)" or something to that effect. Windows Explorer is crashing often as well. CHKDSK has started several times on reboots.

This is the SSD I've had for about a year... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227916

Many of reviews are complaining of failure. Does this seem like only an SSD issue or malware? BOTH!?

Also, I could not run Hitman Pro without my internet connection. All other log files are attached. Please advise:cry

    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Here is the new log. Thank you so much for helping. I don't know everything that windows repair by tweaking did but it feels better with a default windows desktop. I tried reconnecting my network cable after reboot. Same issue-- stalls at "identifying"

Please download these files to your desktop.

    AFD.reg
    Dhcp.reg

    • Now please click Start, and type regedit into the search box.
    • You should see a regedit.exe and icon appear in the Programs area of the Start Menu.
    • Right click on regedit.exe and select Run As Administrator
    • Then in the Registry Editor menu click File and select Import.
    • Navigate to the AFD.reg file saved to your Desktop and double click it. Allow it to be added to the registry. Repeat this for the Dhcp.reg file.

After following those steps and rebooting, my regular desktop background / icons have returned. Still unable to connect to network, stalling at "identifying". Any other ideas?
