FBI MoneyPack Virus

I believe I have the FBI Moneypack virus. It locked me up, asked for the 200$, etc. I immediately shut down, rebooted in normal mode and for a while, operating normally (but my AV software was disabled), but after a restart, the notice popped up again and locked me up again - now unable to start in normal mode, only in safe mode. I can get to the user log-ins in normal mode, but once I log in, it doesn't load my desktop. I am running Windows 7 64-bit. any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.

I have completed the removal/cleaning procedure and produced and attached the logs.

The TDSSKiller log was too large to attach here because it detected Virus.Win64.ZAccess.a, but was not able to cure - I re scanned two more times, but it wouldn't remove it. The log I attached here is the initial scan only.

What is this file, do you know?

    C:\ProgramData\65340803.pad

Re run HitmanPro and have it delete all it finds EXCEPT with this entry:

    • C:\Windows\system32\services.exe

With this you should let Hitman REPLACE for you. Are you able to do so? If so rerun Hitman againAttach the new log once done. so I can see the changes.

Place a checkmark by this item, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

and the same with Files/Folder entries please.... (some may not show, just select the ones that do off our list)

When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine,
Rerun RogueKiller now and attach that log.

Click on Start > and type in services.msc and hit ENTER.

I do not know what C:\ProgramData\65340803.pad is

HitmanPro did allow me to replace C:\Windows\system32\services.exe
There were two objects that needed reboot for deletion, but they were still there when I re-ran Hitman Pro. I have attached initial and last logs

In Rogue Killer, I did not find
    STARTUP][HJNAME] ctfmon.lnk @Ron : C:\ProgramData\lsass.exe -> FOUND
    in the registry tab

I found many of the files entries and deleted them successfully, including the two that HitmanPro did not delete upon reboot. Logs attached.

I did not find Background Intelligent Transfer Service in Services

Let Hitman delete that as well. Now what happens when you try booting normally? Explain please.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Windows still won't start up normally.

Tried three times. First time, Windows started (Hitman did it's thing), I logged in as user, then got black screen, I could move my curser around it, but no desktop. I re-started, logged in, got desktop up, tried to run MG tools, but nothing happened - the icons are there, but can't open anything. Re-started again, logged in, black screen again.

Ran MGTools in safe mode. MGlogs attached.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

I understand that. At the moment I am trying to fix something else, but that might be difficult considering you cannot run in normal mode. I do not understand why you are having issues in normal mode. I see no more malware, just broken BITS service. Looking at your last set of logs now. I am going to ask colleagues though in the background and see if they can help.

Please download Combofix to your desktop. DO NOT double click it to run it. Ensure your antivirus and antispyware are disabled before doing the below.

Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:

    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

I have had a word with Chaslang who has kindly suggested some things to try.

I want you to try running a start up repair from the system recovery options menu.

How to Run a Startup Repair in Windows 7

I want you to run it three times in total and then let us know if there is any difference.

Kestrel13! Super Malware Fighter - Major Dilemma Staff Member

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Due to (I assume) the System Restore completed during the Startup Repair process, I no longer have ComboFix on my desktop, but I still have at least one folder Qoobox related to ComboFix. Should I simply delete Qoobox? I think it's a quartantine file. Likewise, MGTools folder is missing the MGClean.bat file - the folder is mostly txt files. Should I just delete the MGtools folder? Or would it be best to reinstall ComboFix and/or MGTools then run these commands?

I no longer have HijackThis. Again, I assume due to the System restore. So I couldn't uninstall it

There is a folder called RegBackup that was created during the time we were trying the registry fixes. I assume one of the tools created this folder as a registry backup. Wondering if I can delete it.

Finally, there are a few other folders that appear to be quarantine folders that I assume I can delete now, but first want to check with you to make sure. TDSSKiller_Quarantine, RK_Quarantine, FRST.

Thank you so much for hanging in there with me.
