Just got hit with it. Ie stopped running. Chrome stopped running. Firefox still worked although a bit slowly. Read some posts here. ran Mbam and Mbar - nothing found. Now IE works as qell as Firefox, so does Chrome. What is going on here? should I do anything? Use windows 8 on a 64 bit laptop.

Ran as instructed. All went fine except for MGTools. Cannot find any reports. all other reports attached. MGTools kept asking for permission on open registry. I do not know to set permission to open in win8.

You need to follow the instructions for running it. For example:
    • UAC must be disabled
    • protection software must be disabled
    • You must use Right Click and Select Run As Administrator to run MGtools.exe

I kept trying to run MGtools. It ran but got hung up at ping test. However, I did get the logs attached. I know we aren't supposed to bump, but I thought I had better run an attach MGlogs if I could.

There are no signs of a MoneyPak infection. Perhaps you blocked it before it took hold. Are you having any problems? Can you reboot your PC and still perform normal operations?

Everything is working fine now. Symptoms were as described in the post above

Maybe defender blocked it, but I checked the logs and it had nothing recorded there. I have no idea what happened, but I think I dodged the bullet.

    Excellent.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
