    Hello TimW,

I know this is not a new issue, but it is for me. My name is Lobo43 and I have read your forum comments regarding the post “FBI Moneypak and can't reboot in safe mode,” That was posted on 12/27/2012. I found this a helpful article and I have this virus, and I followed your instructions. I have scanned my infected computer and have attached the file and need further instructions on the next steps. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit and I have a Dell desktop computer.

This virus is really tough to get rid of, and now I cannot open windows (even in safe mode) regardless of what I have tried. I really need help with this virus. Please provide any help as soon as possible.

I will appreciate and further help or instruction.
    Sincerely,
    Lobo43

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You appear to have multiple antivirus programs installed on your PC. McAfee and Authentium. Which one are you actually using that you know of? I assume McAfee?

Download this >> View attachment fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.
Now reboot back into the System Recovery Options as you did previously.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach)

Now boot into normal Windows and continue with the below.

Now please follow the instructions in the below link as you have more to fix:

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I was out of town. Yes, McAfee is my virus software. I don’t know how this Authentium got onto my computer. Thanks for your help. I think I have followed you instructions correctly, at least I have my computer running. I have attached the Frstlog file as requested.

I still have not found the Authentium virus application to delete.
    Regards,

    You're welcome.

Typically people get it when they install security suites that were provided for free by their ISPs.

Complete the rest of my instructions and we can help you with this and any other issues we may find.
