FBI Virus - Can't get to safe mode

So, Somehow I contracted the FBI virus and it won't let me do anything. I cannot boot into safemode. When I hit F8 during startup, the boot menu comes up, but my arrow keys are disabled & I cannot select safemode - it makes me stay in the countdown to start windows normally. When in windows (with network disabled) I cannot access task manager. It has also somehow locked out my ability to use a flash drive (won't recognize - gives error that cannot be read). If I enable the network/internet I get the virus screenshot & can't do anything either. I even tried disabling the HDD as a boot up in BIOS and selected to start from disk first, but it seems to bypass that as well and boot straight into windows. I'm a pretty experienced computer user, but this thing is crazy! I'm running Win XP. Help!

I made the Kaspersky disc. It loaded to the start screen when I restarted the computer, but my keyboard seems to be locked; so, I can't hit any keys to start kaspersky; so, it defaults to windows recovery, where I cannot choose to boot to safe mode (just like before) because the keyboard is locked out there as well. HELP!

Ok... So, I figured it might be a USB issue; so, I unplugged my USB keyboard and plugged in an old PS2 keyboard. Upon reboot, I was able to get into Kaspersky and run the registry cleaner as well as do a system scan. Should I now proceed to the Malware Removal Guide? Thanks.

    You're welcome.
If you want to be sure you are clean then yes. ;)
