FDD recovery

ok, so anyway, here's the short story.
set of backup disks, of course the floppies have gotten bad sectors on them cause they suck. Any idea's on recovery? I'd tried to piect together the file image with winimage, but it's not going well. and of course, this is a companies complete financial records for the year.

 

good effort, but I didn't explain clearly enough. The files weren't deleted, te floppy itself has damaged media. I was wondering if there might be a checksum program or something that would stud the disk to maybe piece it back together.

 

Try GetDataBack .. do a search on the front page for it.. all one word.

 

They do suck don't they! Are you using the diskette drive that the diskettes were written with? May sound stupid but I've had the "bad sectors" problem before and tried it in different machines and sometimes you get one to work. If you're using a different machine you might also try taking the drive that it was written with and install the drive to the pc you're using. Good luck.

 

Star, I thot it looked interesting, so I d/ld it and tried it, and altho the interface is striking (as advertised), I can't get a danged thing from it except popups that say "unable to read disk" even tho I've tried it on several floppies, all of which are full of readable files that show up in Explorer and work. The tiny slide-up window that says SCAN ... doesn't.

Any ideas why? You sure you've tried this version on an XP machine? Filedate is 2002, apparently, but who knows?
