few overclocking questions...

1) I'm slowly overclocking my cpu. What is a good Operating temp for a P4 3.0E prescott?

I am using a program called hwmonitor and it says cpu is running at 60-65C but the bios states is running at closer to 72C. Which would be more accurate?

2) I have a apollo geforce 6800 Vid card, and I tried overclocking with coolbits 2 and riva tuner. I set everything back to default, but some reason I can't get certain artifacts to leave games. Did I toast the card? It never ran very hot. Any help is appreciated as always.

Anything can happen when you overclock,its best just to look at probabilities of something happening,the most likely scenario is you pushed your card to far or the heat from your cpu is also heating up your vid card or other components,IMHO your cpu is running far to hot even for a stock p4, 70c in bios is extremely high,I sujjest you unclock it and install some more cooling

bios will always be more accurate, 72c is very hot, my dual core 2ghz is running 40c.

Remove the oc program remove the drivers and reinstall drivers; should fix it.

 

ok put cpu back to stock voltages and now artifacts are gone from game.

When running that toast program, I saw 70C using a program called Hardware sensors monitor Mainboard 41C +12V was showing +10.50V +5V was showing +5.06V Core was showing +1.30V I/O was showing +3.28V. Do I need a diff. cooler with that arctic silver on my processor?
