    Ive been working really hard to fix my pc... MONTHS.. The Read and Run me first has always worked for me before, but this time it wont. It even fixed a rootkit which u will see in the log but still, the same thing.

    It is the most annoying thing i have ever experienced and i have always been able to clean a pc. Ive read similar threads but i keep failing and need help.

    Whenever i google search nearly everytime the link clicked is redirected and a popup asking me to click ok appears. It also just randomly does it on other web sites as well.

    Attached is my logs, please help. after all the programs it still does it.

    Why are you using this machine without antivirus to protect you?

    Please go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the following software:

    • Java(TM) 6 Update 16
    • Viewpoint Media Player

    If you did not deliberately set this proxy yourself then please include it in the HJT fix below:

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Download HostsXpert and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    • It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    • Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    • Click the Make Writeable? button. (if you only see a Make Read-Only selection, it is already writeable so skip this button).
    • Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    {D39F05CD-9F89-4B66-80FDAABD0D5E87A7}

    File::
    D:\Windows\system32\Drivers\nuqxldqi.sys
    d:\windows\TEMP\485F.tmp
    D:\Users\Josh\AppData\Roaming\wshark.exe

    DirLook::
    D:\Windows\System32\%APPDA~1

    Folder::
    D:\Users\Josh\AppData\Local\bnpofvbbv
    D:\Users\Josh\AppData\Local\qxrfaoqqb
    D:\Users\Josh\AppData\Local\ttcqweywr
    D:\Windows\B83FC356B7C0441F8A4DD71E088E7974.TMP

    RegLock::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\PCW\Security]
    @Denied: (Full) (Everyone)

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\nuqxldqi]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\{D39F05CD-9F89-4B66-80FDAABD0D5E87A7}]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

    Important Notice: A new version of SUPERAntiSpyware is available.
    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.
    • After the reboot, run SUPERAntiSpyware and immediately click the Check for Updates button to get more updates for the database.
    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this log later.

    Re-run MBRCheck.exe and attach the log it creates.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this, also attach the new MBAM, SAS log, not to forget the log from MBRCheck.

    Let me know how things are running!

    it is telling me

    D:\Users\Josh\Local Settings\TEMP is not accessible, access denied.

    Continue on with everything else in the instructions. You have an awful lot of temp files which need cleaning, and most of those files aren't good :(

    As I said, battle on, and I will have to give you a new set of instructions in the next post I make to you, and our main goal will be ridding you of those temps.

    I see you have Ccleaner installed, we will give that a run afterwards and hope it takes out all or the majority of them.

    Please run:

    Go to TDSSKiller and Download TDSSKiller.zip to your Desktop

    • Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
    • Now double click the TDSSkiller.exe file to run it ( if using Vista or Windows 7 do not double click on it but rather, right click and select Run As Administrartor.
    • Allow the application to run and a window will open showing that it is TDSSkiller from Kaspersky
    • Click Start scan
    • It will run rather quickly and will notify you of whether anything is found or not.
    • Follow the instructions to delete/quarantine if asks you what to do when if finds something.
    Whether an infection is found or not, a log file should be created on your C: drive ( or whatever drive you boot from) in the root folder named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    Then run the getlogs.bat again and attach the new C:\Mglogs.zip. Also run MBRCheck again and attach it's log!

    So the proxy server you set yourself purposely?
    Did you indeed use HostXpert? :confused

    Do you need these in your host file?

    NOW can you access your temp folders in order to delete the contents?

  21. eyesinister

    eyesinister Private E-2

    yes I ran HostXpert.

    The Lineage2 hosts are for a game my roomate plays. the others i do not know what they are for.

    i still cannot access the Local Settings folder.

  22. eyesinister

    eyesinister Private E-2

    I assume they are all for the game, and can be removed if needed.

  23. Kestrel13!

    Kestrel13! Super Malware Fighter - Major Dilemma Staff Member

    So just to clarify- the proxy you set deliberately?

    I'm creating a fix now, doing as much as I can before I wake my Dad up from his nap :)

    Not necessary as long as we know what it relates to.

  24. eyesinister

    eyesinister Private E-2

    And I didnt set anything with Proxy Servers, my roomate may have. Whatever we need to change we can change, not worried about his game.

  25. eyesinister

    I just asked him, he said all he did was add to the host file.

    Right then, TDSSKiller dealt with the cause of your redirects but we still have some finishing touches to apply before I get fresh logs and decide what's what.

    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    IMPORTANT - I need you to tell me how the machine is behaving now.

    i set msconfig to normal and now it has everything listed in the start up programs checked to load. which is why it was off normal to begin with because i removed all those from loading.

    here are the logs, and do i have to have all these programs loading at the start?

    No, but you should not be using msconfig to control them! A much better alternative is something like start up CPL

    Reviewing the last set of logs now...

    That's looking great now! As previously asked: How is the machine behaving? If all is well, final steps will soon follow.

    Trigger what? You mean you are not experiencing redirects any more?

    Anyway, just let a couple, three days go by and report back to me on how it's going. But I think you're all clear.

    Here we go then:

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    That's because you are not supposed to be able to access it. There are many folders like this in Win 7 and also Vista that Microsoft does not allow you to access.

    This normally happens when you disable signature driver checking. Did you do that? This is not an issue for the Malware Forum and would be better discussed in the Software Forum. You likely need to run bcedit as mentioned in the below:

    Also discussed in many other places on the internet like:
