File/image Conversion

Now that I have Win 10 as a .WIM file instead of an .ESD file I wondered if I could convert 7,8 and 8.1 Macrium images to .WIM also.
I probably need the raw downloaded file to work with such programs as NLite but am not sure.
The 7,8 and 8.1 are Windows downloads so are likely .ESD and compressed.
So, is there a way to covert these images or do I need the raw down loaded file?

My peter, you are getting in deep! You know that this sort of thing interests me and you now have me wondering just what objective you have in mind with this Macrium to WIM conversion?

 

@ Eldon - it is coincidental that I was reading that article this afternoon -thank you.
@bernie - I am trying to assess my level of competence by seeing if I am up to this work. I have Macrium image sand was wondering if I could convert them from .ESD to .WIM for DISM purposes but mainly to learn. I saw where NLite has a nice program to do most of the work. I will probably find it all too difficult but am still fighting nature.

 

Peter, thanks to your thread and that link I now know NTLite is the successor to NLite and VLite.

 

Eldon, for the sake of argument, can an image file be converted or do you need a raw download?
Is is NTLite what I would use to convert and not NLite.
