This is from memory for XP if Vista its likely the same, but I would need to check at home as I dont have Vista to hand in work.

Click Start > Run, and type in regedit hit enter

Once regedit appears Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Folders

Right click on the folder as in My Music you want to change and select Modify.

Change the path of your folder to the new path ie the location of the new folder for music ( for example d:\my new music folder BUT its the location of your new music storage location ), Close Regedit, adn may need to reboot to take effect.

The folder you are referring to My Music is what is referred to as a "Shell Folder" (as are My Documents and My Pictures and others). Shell folders are special folders that Windows uses to indicate the default location for many types of settings and data.

Shell folders may be moved in a number of ways, by a Right-click on the folder > 'Move Here' (while in Windows Explorer) by using a "tweaker" type of utility such as TweakUI for XP or by a simple registry key edit.
    The registry key edit:

    1) Click Start -> Run, and type in "regedit" (w/ no quotes) and press Enter on the keyboard.
    2) RegEdit will appear. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > Shell Folders.
    3) Right click on the folders you want to change and select Modify.
    4) Change the path of your folder to the new path (example: d:\My Music)
    5) Reboot your computer.

Very Important Note: if you modify the registry and change a path of a folder, you will have to move the folder to that location after you reboot the machine. And to be on the safe side; don't forget always make a backup of your registry before making changes to it!

Additionally, be certain that no documents are open before you start a move process, otherwise the move will be incomplete and your old folder will not be deleted. You will have to close open processes and then manually move any files that were not moved in the move operation. Best to do this right after you logon so as not to complicate things.

Side Note: TweakUI for Windows XP is freeware and can be obtained here at Major Geeks and is located in the "Appearance" software section.
