file recovery NTFS

In the process of reinstalling xp I deleted the wrong partition. now the problem is testdisk isnt finding the lost partition, and all the file recovery tools i've tried wont scan the drive. other than modifying the partition table the disk hasn't been touched. can someone help me out? I've got 30Gb of files I don't need to lose.

I'm not sure why testdisk wouldn't find it. But you can always try testdisk again later.

Try Partition Wizard for Windows or you can get an ISO for a bootable CD off their website.

Run the program, right-click on the HD and select Partition Recovery. Select Full Disk and Quick scan. It should find any partitions on the disk. You can double-click the partitions to open a file list which should tell you if your files are still there. If they are then tick the boxes for ALL partitions you want to keep and click Finish. Partition Wizard doe essentially the same as testdisk but with a graphical interface. It may be informative if it also can't find the deleted partition.

 

I found the partition. I was the retard looking on the wrong hard drive. i have 2 hard drives partitioned the same way (38gb/2gb) one was data/linux swap the other linux system/windows virtual memory. I had deleted both 38 gb one should have stayed though.
