which secure shredder program out there is commonly known to be the best, or there a few? plusses and minuses? thx

You cant go wrong for getting rid and blocking spyware and adware with spybot 1.3 and adaware se personal they are both freeware and great at what they do.

 

I use three free spyware programs: Spybot, Adaware (both already mentioned) and Micro$oft's. Among the three just about everything seems to get caught. I also use CrapCleaner (CCLeaner), but it can get overly enthusiastic so be careful with it. Remember that most cookies are perfectly safe and they make your web surfing experience smoother. So be wary of anything that wants to remove ALL cookies. Cookies that go with data mining etc. are all that should be removed.
. You might also want to use a custom HOSTS file like the popular one from this site: www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm . I have found that one line in it blocks the free hit counters in eBay but that is easy to REMark out. You will also find that it blocks your access to some sites when you click on a link that is redirected via an ad company, so you will be spending a bit more time having to cut and paste some URLs (on Google, etc.). But you will definitely be seeing a lot less garbage during your Web time. Highly recommended! Be sure to read ALL their info about the HOSTS file so you know what you're getting into and how to install it.

I have WindowWasher. I do like it but I am now wondering about this freeware Eraser program. Has anyone used both and can tell me how they compare?
