    Hi,
I am not great with computers. I am trying to delete a folder which had collected about 20GB of .BMP pictures. I try to delete the folder and it says that it can not delete cause one of the files is corrupted. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can delete this folder?
    Thanks
    Brian

i'll try to delete one by one if it works, that way you could find the one that is corrupted if that is the case...other wise they should be some software you could use to delete unwanted files...i'll search for you and post it.

So far I have found this sites....

You could delete perminent data with this one. You have to download the program...I think its a free trial but you'll only use it once so it should be good.

Read Cause 3: File system corruption is preventing access to the file

Download CleanCenter Demo. I am not sure if it will work for you but you could try.

If I find a better alternative I'll let you know...But so far the best thing I could tell you, is if you save all your wanted files to a disk and just do a clean Install of Windows.

Can I also ask you, did your computer came with a restore disk or was this computer build for you?

If you haven't already found a solution, you could delete all files until you are left with the corrupted one/s (there may be more than 1) only.

First open up the folder, tag the first 50% of the files, and right click to delete.
This will either delete half your files, or fail.

If it fails on the first half of the files, select half ,of the first half of files (first 25% of all files) and right click to delete. Once again this will either delete or fail.

Keep dividing the remainder in half and deleting, until it zeroes in on the corrupted file/s.

Then delete the rest, leaving the corrupted file/s.

This will at least free up all the space, except that taken up by the corrupted file/s.

Then I suggest you defrag until you find a solution to delete the folder and corrupted files. Hope this intermediate fix helps. Bazza
