Hey have you seen the trailer of FINAL DESTINATION?
I won't miss that film, been waiting for it ever since I've seen the clip.

I opted not to see it. More of the same.

Really. How many times can they make the same damn movie?

Then again, if you're Disney, you can remake the Shaggy Dog or whatever the hell it's called as many times as you like.

The movie industry is just plain insulting our intelligence anymore.

I fully disagree... Sure you can say that the Final Destination sequels bring nothing new to the table, but then why do they need to?

There is a great formula, that is at least within the realms of the franchise, reasonably original, and whilst people keep wanting to see those movies they will keep on making them. Yea, so it may seem like some Hollywood guys have a cash-cow which they want to milk, but at least they're not insulting our intelligences by claiming its Oscar material or anything else its not.

I loved Final Destination, and thoroughly enjoyed FD2 as a follow up. I looked forwards to the release of FD3 and was not disappointed. I didn't want the best acting in the world, and I didn't want the 'heres how it works' thing explaining again. I won't go as far as to say that I wanted a bunch of teens to narrowly escape a harrowing death only to have it come back and get em in the a$$ anyway... errr... actually yea that was all I wanted. Why else would I go see the film? :)

I look forwards to FD4, and Saw3 whilst they're at it...

I watched it for the first time last night, first one, and thought it was pretty good (ok yes I got scared hehe) and looking forward to seeing the second one tonight (channel 4 @ 10pm UKers!)

When did the 3rd come out?

Well I actually liked the first one. After watching the second one, it was kinda like deja vu. And after hearing there was to be a third, I was like "give it a rest".

And you're telling me there will be a third? God.

Believe it or not, I've never seen any of the Final Destination movies, or even heard of them till now.

Sounds like the first is worth watching, but not after that

That seems typical of a lot of films.

Final Destination3,4,5,6... so many ways to die. These are good DVD rental movies or Movie channel. No point in shelling out $10 to $14.each for it.

I meant to say fourth. Duh.

Well speculation on my part... the third instalment didn't get slated upon release by the critics, and probably has sufficient enough fan base that it will make a tidy profit (nothing groundbreaking I am sure). Which means that someone, somewhere, will start penning a screenplay for a fourth instalment.

I'll keep on enjoying them whilst the writers can think of creative ways for fate to come back and get the hapless victims... Thats what keeps it sufficiently different for me.

A lot of sequels take a concept from the first movie (which could probably spawn a 'name a sequel that is better than the first movie' type thread but I'm leaving that alone for now) and they are nearly always very similar... even good franchises. I know there are exceptions to this rule.

The film has a formula, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it... for now.

James Wong has made some good movies (X-Files, etc.). The Final Destination series is just some B-Grade Slasher-type genre. Okay if you’re into Morticians drilling into skulls, and such-like. But not the same formula three times over. Lame over-commercialism, i.m.o.
