ok this is my first post, so hi all!
ive been building PC's for 4 years now, and never had any problems that required any one elses help lol but this one, this one has stumped me, my dad, my college computing staff and 3 computer shops!

So here goes, a week ago i turned off my pc, booted it up just as usual, and no errors at all, suddenly my monitor is telling me NO SIGNAL.
So firstly i tried the cables, nothing, rebooting, nothing, so i took out my ATi Radeon 9200 and put my monitor cable back into my old on board graphics port, and it came on.
So i got the problem down to the Graphics card, or drivers, i tried the card on 2 more PC's and it worked fine, so i reinstalled the drivers, and the problem was exactly the same, so my dad checked the AGP port with something called MICROSCOPE i think, its working fine.

After hours of thinking i backed up all my data and restored, but the disc in for the graphics card and it acutally wont display anything else to install other than DIRECT X, i put it on my friends PC and it displays them all, HYDRAVISION, HYDRAVISION CONTROL etc
So i tried the BIOS its all in the right setup for the card and i updated it to the latest, but still no luck
i have no other ideas at all!

any help would be really aprreciated!!! and if you fix this i want to know who taught you what you know lol

also, if i try and install certain drivers directly from exploring the ATi disc, it tells me i dont have the correct software/drivers lol

First of all...I'm assuming that you disabled the onboard video in the bios!!??

Otherwise...have you tried going into the device manager in control panel>administrator tools>device manager, and uninstall the driver and/or drivers that you are wanting uninstall...then reboot...then try to reinstall the necessary drivers to get you back on your feet!!!???

Also...what happens in safe mode...there might have been a recent automatic update or something to that effect that might be causing a conflict with you display driver!!

well there isnt actually any option to disable the onboard video in the BIOS, i dont know if this is normal for my mobo but it isnt there, i dont quite understand what you mean by the drivers i want to uninstall, at the minute i have aboslutly no ati drivers or utilities etc installed on my pc and the ati drivers disc is still telling me there is only direct X there to install lol safe mode is the same, as soon as that AGP card goes in, i get no signal

What do you find if you got to...Control panel>Administrative tools>Device Manager, then in the right hand pane...double click on Display adaptor??

And what happen when you try safe mode, with the video card in??

i find the default inbuilt graphics card, any mode with the video card in still gives a no signal

Go to Device Manager, right click on your on-board display adapter and disable it. Turn off the computer, connect the monitor to your ATI card and boot up. If you are still not getting a signal, then there must be a fault somewhere with your hardware. If the card works okay in other machines, then your AGP bus would have to be highly suspect. Borrow and try a different Graphics Card and see what happens. You should be able to get a basic display, even without the ATI drivers.
    Regards, Blueheeler.

  8. Check the motherboard manual for a onboard graphics jumper that turns the onboard card on and off. That may be why the setting is not in bios. I know that my mobo has a jumper to turn that stuff on and off rather than a bios setting. I dunno if that setting just pretains to older mobos like mine that is about 5 years old. Check the manual for a jumper to turn off the onboard card.

shouldnt be anything to do with the jumpers as this problem was there then i restored and it was still there, and at know point have the jumoers been involved, moving them will be changing them away from default

What kind of power supply do you have installed, 350w or better?

    Steve

  11. Oh ok i didnt know if you had them or if that mainly retained to older systems cause my aopen is about 5-6 yrs old so its got quite a few years on it. But i dont think it will hurt going off of default because all we want to do is make sure the onboard card is off right? As long as you dont mess with anything else it should be fine.

Does your friend already have an installed ATI video card? I'm pretty sure the Hydravision, etc won't automatically show until the basic ATI drivers for your card have already been installed. This is likely why you only see DirectX in your box.

Go to the device manager & look at your integrated video, it should show in the general tab under location as 'PCI bus 3, device 0, function 0' or something similar. So, your integrated card is considered PCI.

Now, there should also be something under 'system devices' called 'AGP Host to PCI bridge' or something similar. If you have nothing showing AGP at all, then the OS isn't seeing it & there's a hardware issue with your MOBO, despite what your dad's diagnostic showed.

ok guys its me again, sorry i didnt keep this thread active, i had issues with my isp, and the damn pc, but back online with a new pc, but the old one still has the same problem, see the introduction to this thread, in follow up to the last reply in my device manager under display adapters>intel(r)82865G Graphics Controller>Location PCI bus 0, device 2, function 0.
Maybe this is where the problem lies? like i said before this in an intergrated adapter, and also, i cannot locate "AGP Host to PCI bridge" in system devices, there is no mention of AGP here at all. Thanks for any help guys, and sorry for only just getting back to thise thread!!

also thought i should say that when i am booting pc, with all peripherals, but not my graphics card, only my intergrated intel one, i get no bios beeps, but everything boots and runs fine!, if i remove the RAM card, i get 3 bios beeps, no signal however, fans spin, but thats all:eek:
