FINALLY! Found a Decent GP!! I'm over the moon!

As most of you already know, I have been having some issues finding a new doctor to handle my case, due to a rather complicated 2009 with kidney & liver failure, liver absus, pancreotitis, pmonia, infections galone, including golden staph which the hospital kindly gave me, anyway, my old GP was not doing what a proper GP should, what I discuss privately with my doctor should remain private, same goes for what medications I am on, except my old GP was discussing my case with other people at the practice that are not even doctors, the secretary, the practice manager, and doing that was affecting my care as a patient, as they would put their own input into the mix, and the doctor was following what they suggested, instead of him making his own decision!

Well I just got back from a doctors appointment and I think I have finally found a new GP, although the GP that I saw today was a relief GP, the original doctor will carry on what was laid out today.

I got all my medications sorted, finally! I also explained the problem with my old GP, which he also agreed was un professional, and after a long and daunting 3 weeks, I finally found a GP that I have been longing for! straight forward to the point, honest and very upfront, and has my welfare in mind, rather than the consultation fee! unlike most other GP's I have seen trying to find the right doctor, most were more interested in getting me in and out, ready for the next patient! which I find rather appaling, today I was in with the Doctor for a good 50 odd minutes! and he didn't care about the time and only charged me the regular 19 minute consultation fee of $60!

So hopefully this is the start of a new beginning for me, I explained that I also have a pain management clinic review coming up sometime mid to late febuary, to get all my problems with pain sorted out and finally get a long term solution instead of the quick fix, and what they recommend is the crunch time, because they have the final say which I am very eager in hearing.

Well enough of my rambling on, I am just a little excited and happy that I have finally found a solution to part of my problems. Darwin is a very small town in retrospect, so you are very limited on doctors here, especially finding a GP that can also subscribe S8 medications, which the hospital put me on, but left it up to me to find a GP to take over.

I also found out that I can stop another S8 I am on, as well as a few other normal medications, hopefully without any consequeces, so only time will tell, but I am fedup to here with having to take so many tablets everyday, it is sometimes too much and I miss doses on purpose because I cannot be arsed in preparing the night time dose in particular, which consists of around 10 tablets all up! Now it will consist of only 5, my new GP said that I can stop the others as a trial and see how I cope without them, and on my next consult let him know how I am doing off them, and a decision will be made to whether I can stop them completely or not. Most are for my anxiety, but I plan on following up my Mental Health Plan for a psycologist for Cognitive Behavoural Therapy, which I am told is very very good as a self help treatment, which will hopefully lead to all anxiety medications stopping.
