Firefox 1.5 problem

After having installed from sctratch windows xp and and other software F.F 1.5 started not responding every now and then for a few seconds. Previously to formating and reinsalling it ran smoothly. The only new software is Panda platinium but its definitions allow F.F. 1.5 to accsess the internet freely. Run virus and antispyware and no problems were found. Anyone knows what it might be?

 

Are you talking instead of instant access with Firefox, it seems to hang up, or pause for about 4 seconds, and then the window opens up?

 

No. It hangs up while I am viewing a page what ever it might be.

Thanks for the link. I followed the suggestion of setting compatibilty to W 98 and now it works fine.

For those who might be wondering, running in Win98 compatibility mode is a shortcut method of disabling hyperthreading to eliminate freezing problems with Firefox and Prescott Pentium 4 chips.
