    Mozilla is moving extremely fast...

    The Article:

Mozilla plans to have an early alpha version of Firefox 2.0 in users hands by February, with builds of Firefox, Camino and Thunderbird for Macs running on Intel processors available the following month, recent statements from company developers indicate.

Details of a release date for Firefox 2.0 Alpha 1 appeared in the January 4 mozilla.org staff meeting minutes released late last week. It also noted that a security and stability update would be coming to Firefox 1.5 by the end of this month.

Although the first alpha release of the next version of the popular alternative browser will not be feature complete, it should give users an idea of where the company plans to take Firefox in 2006. The year is expected to be a busy one; work on Firefox 3 is already underway with a release possible late this year or early in 2007.

The company might be, but the browser sure isn't. Each build seems to take longer to load a page than the previous one. No wonder people make extensions such as FasterFox; it's to keep their own sanity.

It only took them years to make it update via the program.

In my opinion, FireFox is overrated. Yes it's great compared to Internet Explorer, but what isn't?

I have no problems with speed, or the so-called memory leak. Perhaps I'm just lucky. Perhaps again, I'm just a fanboy. :)

Yes, well, the update option within 1.5 isn't all that it is cracked up to be.

You can install a trunk build of 1.5 from say 10 days ago. Then run the "Check for updates". A small download will start, typically from 100-500k. Then restart firefox, and the update installs. Check for updates again, and again, and again, for about 10 times. If you are lucky, you won't have to do this again.

I have had a few times that an update breaks the update option, where then it attempts to download the entire 5mb file, which also is broken.

But, alas, I really don't mind. I'm constantly using trunk builds, researching why things don't work properly.

I just hope they (mozilla) will finally get rid of the mork structure within history.dat.

You have proof of this? :)

I'm just asking, not trying to start anything. :)

They already have a Beta version of IE7.

There is an MSN toolbar that adds to IE things like tabbed browsing etc.
