For about a month and a half my browsers have been terribly slow like 4 minutes to load a page. I talking 56k slow. Anywho I have a 5mbs connection which clocks in about 5738kbs and 586kbs. When I download something I get download speeds at about 600kbs.

I run AVG, spybot. Have for years and never had any problems that weren't fixable. I have hirens in which I've ran every anti-virus program on there and, I've ran trend micros house call. nothing seems to work I even swiped my hardrive and reinstalled and reformatted bout 2wks ago still the same problem.

I run xp sp2, on a p4 1.7ghz 1g ram, with plenty of hard drive room. Latest versons of Direct X and Java. Yet firefox and I.e. Take forever to load pages, crash on me, show me network connection errors. these are the main problems.

I have a motorola sbg 900 with a linksys wireless router acting as a switch. Everything worked fine till about early June then it all went to Sh*t any ideas would be very much appreciated. I just want my net back.

Have you tried contacting your ISP about the issue?

yeah and they give me the same thing every time. Unplug your modem plug it back in. turn off power, run a speed test that's about all they do. I did notice that when it hangs on a page I can right click on the network connections icon hit repair and the next 2 to 3 sites when load like they use too before this crap started happening.

can you check all the connections to make sure the cables are fine and not loose? also, have you reset your router recently? might want to do that as well, and reconfigure it...
what version of avg do you have? the newest (8.0) has a page/link scanner that might slow you down a bit.

I did all that seems to be running better after resetting the router. I've done before and it just helps for 15 to 20 minutes then goes back to the problems.

I do have avg 8.0 but my browsers were doing this before I downloaded the new avg.

I get uberfast downloads through azureus just my browsers are terribly slow. I don't have a firewall setup except on the router.
