I keep having problems w/ my browsers shutting down when I'm surfing the internet. I first noticed it with firefox, and I thought nothing of it till it kept happening. After firefox shuts down, I get a little window that pops up asking to send my feedback to the mozzila corp. When I try to restart firefox I get a meesage that tells me that firefox is running in the background and needs to be shutdown first. So in order to restart it I have to open task manager and end the process. Now not only is it happening in firefox but iexplorer does the same thing, it usually only happens when playing yahoo games, so I'm assuming that it has something to do w/ java. Another thing that seems weird is whenever I'm running something that has java I see 2 or more java icons in the system tray, sometimes as many as 6. I have looked in the event viewer to find out more info, but it only says that I have had an application hang which I already knew.
I'm running the latest ver. of firefox and the beta version of iexplorer 7.0. And I have the latest version of java. OS is win xp home.

If u need more info I would be glad to give it to you.

    Any help is apreciated,

    Grimmer

Funny, Im having a similar problem but not just with games but even when I'm only brosing. It always happens with IE within 30 sec of opening my broser. I started using Firefox but same thing only not as often. I had posted in the Malware forum as I initially thought I was infected with something but after numerous tests, they said it looks possibly like a software issue..... in anycase if I find anything out I'll keep you posted.

    Good Luck

When you installed the latest Java, did you uninstall any previous versions? If not, try doing so, it might help.

I found that it only happened to me when I was running Yahoo messenger. I simply changed to GAIM and that sorted it. BTW if it is still doing it just hit ctrl + alt + del and look at the processes, close down all iexplorer.exe and all firefox.exe's and you can start opening them up again without issues.

Hey guys sorry for the delayed response. So I checked add/remove programs and I'm seeing 2 different J2se runtime enviroments 1 is 5.0 ver.1.5.0.50 update 5 and the other is J2se runtime 5.0 update 6 ver. 1.5.0.60. So do I just uninstall the update 5? I'ts wierd, when updating any other program the installer usually deletes the previous version, why is Java not doing this?

    Well thx again,
    Grimmer
