Firefox and Yahoo Games

Running XP Home.
I was recently having trouble with firefox, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I thought I had everything working, but when I try to get into yahoo games, I can't. I can get into yahoo mail, etc.... just not the games.
I went to tools, options, tried to click on Firefox browser, and it won't let me.
I get the error
Unable to change brower settings. Make sure you have it installed properly on your system and/or you do not have sufficient permission to change system settings.

Any ideas what I can do or am doing wrong?

Forgot to add, I can get into yahoo games with IE, just not with Firefox.

Or another type of game?

Typically, this may require downloading and installing Java Or JRE (Java Runtime Environment).

Thank you theefool for the advice. I did install the download,again, after uninstalling, but still no luck.
I am trying to get into a yahoo game, any game right now
The applet starts, then stops and says done, not connecting me.
So, I went into Open Control Panel on the java icon. Then I went to Advanced/<Applet/tag support and tried to click on the Mozilla Firefox. When I do this is when I get the Browser Error telling me either I do not have it installed correctly and/or I do not have sufficient permission to change system settings.
I did unclick the IE, then tried to click Firefox, same thing. I clicked it on IE again and that works. Just can't play in Firefox.

Are you running your machine as a limited user? Or an admin?

What about a software firewall? Try disabling it. Also try disabling your antivirus. If disabling either one works, then it is a different issue.

Within FIREFOX. Type in about:config (within the place you type in the web addresses).

Now, within filter, type in JAVA.

Is javascript.enabled set as TRUE
Is security.enable_java st as TRUE

Is anything else set as true? The rest (for me) is set as false.

 

Running windows 7, firefox, have played yahoo games for years and this past week, I get as far as putting in the confirmation code then the java symbol just runs in circles and won't open the applet. I have uninstalled and reinstalled java but with no success. I have also tried IE and no luck there either.
When I check the add ons it shows Java deployment toolkit and Java TM platform SE and if I try to verify if I have java on the java site, it says I don't have java installed. Any suggestions?

 

So do I remove the other Java's? The strange thing is I could swear that's what I had running when I was playing the games. Will try again...thanks

 

Downloaded Java JRE and still no luck. When I go to verify if I have it, it doesn't detect it on my computer. I have tried everything and have no idea what to do next.

 

loveangels I have the same problem with both browsers and i cant use either of them to play pogo games now either ... getting frustrated
