    Firefox, version 38.0.1

    Windows 7 Home Premium

I have google set as the default search engine, yet everytime I launch Firefox, there is the following at the top of the window:

"Get to google faster. Switch your default search engine to google."

How do I shut off this stupid message since I already have google as the default search engine?

    AdBlockPlus
    I saw that too.

I use Chrome more than FireFox but I also have the same issue on FireFox as GoshenGeek. I also have AdBlockPlus installed and it doesn't block the "Get to google faster. Switch your default search engine to google." for me however.

This is slightly off topic but I found a useful extension that works just as good as adblocker but uses less resources go to add ons in firefox or google store in Chrome and download a extension called Disconnect.

Perhaps. But what's the harm in using both? I have, for a long time.

Solved my issue with the message. Uninstalled Firefox.. I know many of those here use it almost exclusively but personally I'm not going to miss it. And yes, I delete cookies after each session when I'm online so even though that fixed the issue for others it didn't seem to work for me.

    Just a thought...
Has this issue perhaps have something to do with Mozilla Firefox dumping Google for Yahoo! as the default Search Provider? :confused

I actually tried that on a number of occasions and it did not work. Have no idea why as I did a google search for an answer well before the original poster started this thread and tried all the advice I could find. Nothing worked. Not having Firefox is okay with me so my solution satisfies my overall frustration with that google search message. It's not like I don't have other browser alternatives to turn to. ;)

    Follow-up to my original post:

None of the suggestions in this thread has worked for me.

This is not a big deal - I just close the google message and it never reappears as long as I keep the browser open. But this is somewhat screwy. With Firefox would fix this.

What lists do you have in ABP?
Maybe one of my lists is blocking this because I never see that message.
