Firefox issue

I am new to Firefox and wonder why, when I open a bookmark, some of the bookmarks open normally and others open in a split screen. The new bookmark that has just been opened has a red x to close that half, but the original page has no red x to close it. I would like to know how to make all my bookmarks open in a full window.

Not normal Firefox behavior - where did you download Firefox from?

 

Sorry, I don't remember where I downloaded it from, I just googled firefox download and picked one.

Hi Leah,
A split screen would indicate to me that the browser window has split in half and is showing two different websites. However, what you are describing also sounds like tab behavior, which is a feature of Firefox. When the tab feature functions, the bookmark you have just opened will be the webpage you can see and will have a red X to close it. The other bookmarks you have open will be behind that window and the X will be grayed out, because that is not the active window. If it's regular tab behavior, you can go to tools/options and change your options under tab.
However, if the websites are indeed splitting the screen, so half the screen is one website and the other half is another website, then it sounds odd. It would be good to store your bookmarks (under local drive (probably C) / Documents and Settings / your name / User Data / Mozilla / Firefox / Profiles / and then the funny number. Make a copy of the folder with the funny number somewhere in another part of your computer and then go to add/remove programs and get rid of Mozilla Firefox. After that, go to the Major Geeks program list and reinstall Mozilla Firefox here:
