With all the other maladies I seem to have, Firefox has crashed on me three times today.
I found this lengthy message about the problem.

I can't decipher that entire report. I didn't see anything that's an obvious cause for the crashes.
It looks like your Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player are up to date, but you should check them anyway.
    You might consider PDF-XChange Viewer

Here's what I recommend to repair Firefox.

Go to Plugin Check page to check your plugin status.
If Adobe Flash Player needs to be updated, download and run the Flash Player Uninstaller
Download the latest Adobe Flash Player and install.

Also, check your add-ons / extensions for available updates.
Go to about:addons and then choose Check for Updates.

Follow the instructions here: How Do I Reinstall Mozilla Firefox?
In step #3, choose Don't Delete Files to keep your existing profile so that it can be restored when you reinstall.
Finish the rest of the process.
You can get the latest FIREFOX here

If you are still getting crashes, you have two choices.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode and see if the browser is stable with the Add-ons disabled.
If it is stable, begin Enabling the Add-ons one at a time to see which one is causing the crashes.
That's pretty time consuming and hit or miss until you find the problem Add-on.
Better to make a list of your installed Extensions and do a Refresh.

The surest way to fix Firefox problems is to do a Refresh. Instructions are here:
Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Cruising the site I noticed this thread. I have had repeat FireFox crashes, where it just hangs (usually when clicking on some web page). It requires power-down and reboot. I just completed malware scans, and I'm told the system is clean. This is a (new-to-me) Vista Business (32 bit) OS on Dell Optiplex 960. Not the latest or greatest, (and may yet need Dell updates), but assumed better then my XP machines. And I'm working the bugs.

As suggested, I did check my plug-in status, with Adobe Flash Player and Java showing current, yet Windows Presentation Foundation (v. 3.5.30729.1) is shown as a Unknown Plugin, with Research? link. Last update as 2008!! (.. and currently set to "Ask to Activate")

In "Extensions", FF posts a warning on my Microsoft Net Framework Assistant cannot be verified for use in FF, so it's currently disabled. Is this safe to enable? And will WPF require a separate download to be updated current?

In my Installed System updates, there are 7 Net Framework 3.5 SP1 listings, (showing up to date). I have now set Windows Markup File and XAML Browser App to WPF (in FF). Or are the two aspects separate.. FF WPF from system files?

Further suggestions or information? MANY THANKS!! Jerry

And adding my other current FF list of add-ons, I have:
Avast Online Security (disabled) because I had red it might also cause problems! (Advice?)

    Plugins:
    OpenH264 Video Codec by Cisco
    Primetime Content Decryption Module
    Shockwave Flash
All 3 of those always activated (Advise?)

    And:
    Java Deployment Toolkit 8.0.600.27
    Java Platform SE 8 U60
    Windows Presentation Foundation
All 3 of those Ask to Activate

Too bad all of this can't be simpler.. but it's clear MG typically has answers available for us idiots er.. I mean, less well informed!! LOL
    THANKS for any help!
