Recent oddity that's popped up for me - most of my issues seem to happen that way.

Starting a couple days ago, FF will randomly fail to load images on webpages for me - it'll sit on the 'waiting for ___' message where the blank is the hosting site (and that's not consistant, either), and then just stop. Refreshing pages loads the images without complaint.

I've updated from FF 5.01 to 9.01, tried it with my usual addons - NoScript and AdBlock - disabled, and still nothing. Flushed cache and cookies, ran CCleaner and the usual malware scans, still zilch. The frustrating part is it really is random, what images will and won't load on what pages - I can't prove any of this.

I'm still trying to figure mine out.I updated to FF9.0.1 and I have no search page. Not Google ,which is the default. Nothing but blank page. Maybe we both could get help,,the issues may be related!!!!

    Yes.

    Further postscripts -
    1) Did have a Java update to stick in, no changes after the fact.
    2) This actually may be older than I though, to an extent. For quite some time Youtube has been missing thumbnails at random - I did search on that particular issue, and one suggestion was a change in FF's about:config page. As I have it configured, FF had the setting that was suggested as a fix already in place - dom.disable_img_cert_set set to false.

    Okay, following up on this.

Checked my plugins, the only thing out of date is Adobe Reader, and I'm fine with that.

    From the Firefox page:
    Check image permissions
Set to load images automatically, as default. Never changed the exception list.

    Clear cookies and cache
    Did it.

The image cannot be displayed because it contains errors
    Not the issue.

    Security software
Checking. I've made no changes to my security software save daily updates.

Images load the first time but not later
Not the issue - images fail to load initially, then correctly load on a refresh. Also, don't have RealPlayer installed at all.

    Images load but look wrong
    Not the issue.

Did do some additional testing - the issue seems to start happening after a few hours of being up and running online.

At t his point, I have a backup of my bookmarks and a clean 9.0.1 download; I'm tempted to just wipe FF and reinstall it.

are you still using xp? I am having a similar problem with ff using Xp pro sp3, but not on my computer that was win 7. I haven't found a fix yet, but I will post if I find something.

Try this. Click Options and under the Advanced tab, uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available" in the Browsing section.

    XP, yes.

I'll take a whack at that one here in a bit.

Did solve one mystery - the missing Youtube thumbnails were a PEBCAK on my part; I was checking my addons again and found I'd AdBlock'ed one of the Youtube image servers. Free that one and poof, I got thumbnails again. Derp.
