check your homepage configuration in FireFox.. change it to something else and see if the problem persists.

So, when you type in google.com or microsoft.com or another Web Address, do you still get a 404 error. From the screenshot, it appears not. I am wondering if you have the homepage set incorrectly. Try changing it to something other then Google.com or Mozilla.com (ie http://www.espn.com) and see if it resolves correctly.

Sounds like something is definitely not correct. Try IE and see if it is doing the same thing. Also, what version of Firefox are you using?

REinstall it, it can't hurt. Are u sure u don't have the WorkOffline option selected in the top in File---Workoffline option. If it's selected unselect it and close firefox and reopen it. If that doesn't work, I don't know what else to tell u being that IE is working. Maybe check ur firewall too to make sure it isn't blocking u going online with firefox.
