Firefox question

Last week i did a re-format to get a stable OS.
I re loaded every thing from my files but i had not saved FF so i downloaded it. Before the format when i was typing if i made a spelling mistake in the text it would underline it but now if i want to be sure i have not made a mistake i have to click the spell check icon on the FF toolbar and it then makes any faults stand out in red.
Is this something new in FF or have i not installed it correctly??

 

Try this Bill.

Click on tools/options/Advanced.

Make sure check my spelling as i type is checked.

 

That was the first thing i did Wolfie and thats why i find it so strange.
