I use both Firefox and IE. When I go to a site that requires a login and shows me a box to check if I want to be remembered: I have no problem with IE but with FF it never keeps it checked and I have to click to be logged in. Why does it do that?

Another question: with FF everytime I link to another page, FF wants to close. This does not happen when I open a new tab, only when I link to the page or go back. I thought it might be my isp but it only does this with FF, not IE.

    any enlightenment out there?

Lets see-- Because FF and IE share your bookmarks and history(internet) this may be the source of the problem-- (IE: FF remembers because it is your default--IE forgets because its not.)
Do you know about the "always view in IE"extension for FF ??
    Its available from mozzila.org

Hrmmm, FF imports your bookmarks, when you first install FF. So, technically, they do not share the same bookmarks.

On the "Always view in IE" extension, I prefer IETAB. This way, if a page doesn't load properly (usually when I pay my bills), I switch to IE within in FF. As in I'm running FF, but using the IE engine. I even go to windows update via FF, through IETAB.

Goto Tools > Options > (click) Privacy
    1. Cookies Tab; tick "allow sites to set Cookies" - tick "for originating site only" > tick "keep cookies until they expire".

    2. History Tab > enter the # of days to remember visited sites. (the # depends on how often you visit?)

    3. Bottom of options screen you'll see "settings" for clearing private data. Make sure that cookies are not ticked.

These are my settings, and I don't have to log onto any of my forums. Although, there are other settings that work as well.

Got to agree with krit86lr, you must not be keeping cookies. There's also the option to not allow cookies but set exceptions for individual sites.

Personally, I allow all cookies and use CCleaner to delete the ones I don't want to save. In CCleaner > Options > Cookies you move the cookies you want saved from the left-hand column to the right-hand column. Then those will be ignored as CCleaner removes all the other cookies along with old temp files and other trash.

Thanks for the suggestions - I will work on that this week-end. Now, how about some enlightenment on why FF wants to close everytime I click on a link.

    Thanks!

    That seems to be working.

    Thanks!
