Don't meen to hijack this thread, so just one post.
@MarkTrent:- This is interesting about "Profile Data" I presume there is no friendly tool/utility to remove remnants, of FF. While I have no issues with FF, very often I simply do a clean install of Apps etc if they give me grief. Seems to me.....

Sorry, just opened the link you provided and there is an option for a "Clean install'.
And FF3 has an option in it's uninstaller for Proflie issues. Cheers...

If you have tried Mark's fix and it doesn't work, then, as he said it is a possiblity that you downloaded a file from somewhere (could have been anywhere) that was infected. It would be your computer that would be infected, not your browser.

Hopefully, you have a full compliment of protection software on your computer...

    Ditto what Mark said.

You have infected files on your computer. Your redirects are a symptom of that.

    You have 2 options....

    1. I would HIGHLY recommend going step by step through the READ & RUN ME FIRST thread and perform all steps in order. It is written for the computer novice and is very very thorough. You Can do it, I promise. These steps will allow you to clean all files and keep all your data (pictures, music, etc).

    2. Your other option is a complete reinstall of windows (NOT repair). This will delete all files from your computer. You can save all files on a flash drive or external hard drive, but chances are that as soon as you put them back on your computer, you will reinfect yourself. If you choose this option, you will also need to reinstall all the hardware drivers for your computer. This option is generally the last option people want to go through.

ironic, i bought the external hard drive about 2 or 3 weeks ago, just so i could save everything on it. but seems now because i didn't unplug it , its bite on on the backside !!
thanks again mate, looks like i have a long day on the computer tomorrow!

You will do fine. :) Just start at the beginning and work in the order the instructions are listed.

From now on, you will need to address all your questions in the Malware Forum. Start a new thread of your own. Be sure to post all logs that are requested. Our malware experts are the best.

I'm not sure what you mean that someone has left you a post.

If someone has private messaged you that they tried to post and couldn't, the reason would be that they are not authorized to post in the Malware forum, as only our authorized Malware experts are allowed to answer threads in there. If you tried to Private Message them back and couldn't, I do know that only those with a certain amount of posts (I'm not sure what that number is) are able to PM.

Any authorized people Will be able to post in your thread.

Now, I can tell you that, at this point, your next answer to that thread will be the exact same instructions Mark and I have been giving you. To follow the Read and Run Me First thread and then to attach all your logs in your thread in Malware.

In addition, the Malware forum is busy. You will have to be patient. Someone will come and help you. In the meantime, go through the cleaning procedure and post your logs. :)

    Yep...Mark is right. :)

Just let all the scans and tools they have you use clean everything it finds. Good for you for tackling it. I know it looks intimidating, but hopefully you have found that the instructions are very thorough.

i have completed the steps i am just not sure about step 5, thats all , mozilla is working now so what you talking about??
ive only posted what as been asked of me, and the only other thing i posted was the sas file and step 5 thats it, so what you saying to me isn't right mate!! there was only one log that was the spyware log. so i cannot post whats not there m8 or can i? if you don't won't to help just don't answer my thread, it thought you was a ok guy, seems i was wrong. thanks for your not so nice advice!

i have done all the steps asked of me, i don't know enough and i didn't realise i had to wait for answers, can you tell me where it says wit till somebody gets in touch with you?? , i don't say that any where, all it says is leave the log file there so that they can see it, and diagnose the problem if its not been done, if you read step 4 and then step it 5 its clearly says if you think the problems has gone,
    here is what it says

(No, I’m not having any problems
    * If you are sure everything is okay and that you do not need to request any help, then jump to the next step below*)

so i thank you for the help, can you read that part of the malware problem please! thanks arnie! :)

of course i won't a response, but as i said it tells you to just move on if you think your computer is sorted, i just don't understand part 5 and i posted a thread saying so, and i also posted what i was told to post, i have read it for the last 3 days not well 4 now, you think i like having my computer messed up mate? come on be real am doing what the malware page tells me to do, if i have missed something i have posted it!
just because you know everything don't mean we all do. i have learning difficulties and i take alot of medication, i cannot even read a book, my attention span is zero. i have to make sure and then print things out, i have had my dad round to read the instructions out for me after i printed out all the pages from the help page.
so please don't think am just a person who don't care!
    thankyou!

    Hi arnie

If you have done all your scans, you should really take the time to post ALL the logs that are asked for. The guide should tell you where to find them. That way you can be very sure the cleaning process got everything.

Step 5 is for after you have done everything to clean your computer, including attaching all your logs for someone to look at. It is just making sure you have all the proper protection for your computer like a Firewall, antivirus and antimalware.

There are only a small number of malware experts. What you need to do is wait for them to get to your thread. The way they work is they do the oldest ones first. You should always stay in your one original thread if you have questions. Do not start any other threads in there.

your right i have misunderstood, i made a mistake by just downloading one instead four tools to use. so you are right, i didn't realise i had to use 4 things to scan my pc i though it was pick one on the list.
so do you feel better now ??
thanks for gloating over it hope it makes you feel better and sleep well!

thank you laura, if i hae done 4 scans i would of posted all the results but i only did 1 scan.
i know now i should of downloaded 3 other software programme's.
i thought it meant just choose one of them, not 4 of them.
    so i made a mistake.
when though when i say am a novice i meant it!
people make mistake. i am one of them.
i bet everybody on majorgeeks have made a mistake, in there life!
thanks again for the help!:):):) thanks for explanation!
