Firefox search bar

I find the Firefox search bar extremely useful, and I use it A LOT, especially on Google and Amazon.

Lately Google has started to annoy me by redirecting all my searches to google.co.jp, and listing mainly Japanese web results. Even if I type google.com in my address bar, it immediately redirects me to google.co.jp; I have to select Google.com at the right bottom corner to actually remain on google.com

I have done a little bit of research on this, but so far I have not found a solution to this redirecting problem. After having used Google for so many years, it has suddenly become annoying and time-consuming!

Does anybody have a suggestion how to fix this, or do I really have to switch to BING?

 

Enter about:config into the main bar, hit Enter and promise to be good; type search into the search line at the top, you'll see the relevant lines to modify there - if you make a mistake (I think changes are instant, once you close the about:config page) revisit and you should see modified lines in bold so you can easily revert.

browser.search.order.1 for the main bar search, browser.search.selectedEngine for the search bar search - I think ... right-click > Modify.

 

If you make a Google Bookmark with the following address or type the address into the address bar it will disregard what country you are in and always send you to Google.com
I think the NCR at the end means No Country Recognition but I'm not sure
It is very handy for those who travel a lot and don't want the local Google page every time they change countries
