Firefox shortcut favicon gone, need advice

    Interesting plodr. But I don't now why it's not for you because it is for me and many others as I found by searching "how to save a website shortcut on the desktop". And it still is because I tried it after updating to FF18 which is now installed in my puter.

    Nevertheless, I also found a little FF extension in my searches called "DESKCUT". And it works by right clicking a blank spot in the desired web page and clicking "Create deskCut" in the menu.
    But for this to work you must first enable the function in the options by clicking "find" in "set path" after installation. For FF users that will place a shortcut on the desktop represented by the familiar FF fox wrapped around the world favicon. So as far as I'm concerned that's what I'll use to save my web page shortcuts until FF fixes the problem.

    I'm glad you figured out a workaround. I couldn't reproduce your problem. On a Win7 computer I get two different types of icons. I would have thought updating FF would have solved your problem.

    The left icon is .htm and the right icon is .URL
