Firefox using scroll unneeded arrows - how to stop?

    Hi all,

Firefox has taken to using scroll arrows on my right-click menus. I don't think this is because of a setting change but I wouldn't say for certain. The only other thing that has happened recently is that I have updated to version 2.

Anyway, the arrows are totally unnecessary because everything on the menu is available so I'd like to get rid of the arrows - does anyone know how?

I attached a picture so you can see what I'm looking at.

    Thanks!

Are sure this only happens in Firefox, not in other applications? What version of FF are you using?

To be more precise than version 2, I'm running version 2.0.0.3 and yes, it's only happening in Firefox.

You're right; I hadn't ever noticed that, but the scroll arrows appear even when they're not needed (I'm running a 2.0.0.4pre nightly build). I doubt there's any reasonable way to fix this for an end user, my advice is to try to ignore it. The Firefox developers will no doubt fix this eventually - I'll check to see if a bug has been filed about this, if not I may file one myself.

Odd! I'm running the same version, and I don't experience these symptoms.

Just a thought: Have you tried looking through about:config ? (Type that in the address bar to access a database of Firefox settings)

Remember to backup your profile if you make any changes you're uncertain about.

Yes, I did and nothing seemed relevant... :( Looks like we'll have to wait and see whether it turns out to be a bug.

I'm going crazy, I'm going crazy, I'm going crazy... :foolish :heli

I was idly playing with the mouse after posting this and randomly right-clicked on something. To my total surprise, the arrows have DISAPPEARED!! Now I am positive that nothing has been changed since I reported this problem, nor have there been any Firefox updates done. The only thing that has happened is that Firefox was shut down, followed by the computer being restarted. However, I'm fairly sure that this has been the second or third restart since noticing this problem - I'll see if I can figure that out by checking my Event Log. I'll let you know what I find out and also let you know if the arrows come back. Still wouldn't mind knowing why in case the darned things turn up again.... confusedconfused

Umm, someone want to tell me what I'm looking for to see the dates/times when the computer was logged in??

I can't reproduce the problem now, either - on the latest nightly or 2.0.0.3. Needless to say, I'm not going to file a bug about it when it's no longer happening. I have no idea why it occurred, or why it stopped - just a weird glitch.

I just remembered - when I was seeing this last night, I had the update to Quicktime downloading in the background. Did you have anything like that going on?

It was doing it again. After I had been doing some cutting and pasting to make a text link, I was getting scroll arrows in the Firefox context menu. I restarted Firefox, and they went away. If I can figure out how to reproduce this consistently, I may yet file a bug - if one hasn't already been filed already (I haven't searched Bugzilla yet).
