I am not looking for help so i posted here instead of software.

i am just curious if anyone else had problems with firefox.
i downloaded it from MGs so it was clean but it immediately corrupted my internet security F SECURE 2006 my spam filter stopped and anti virus too, i did try to make them work together for two weeks and gave up i just uninstalled and hey presto everything is working again, so now i just have IE7 and OPERA as most of my activity on the net is for pleasure i don't think i need it:banghead

I have not had any problems at all with Firefox at home or at work. I am sure there is some way of getting it to work on your computer, but Opera is a great browser, so why hassle with it unless you just get bored!

A few weeks ago I was having trouble in Firefox - got bogged down all the time. When doing a routine cleanup with AVG 7.5, it found a virus apparently specific for Firefox. There are free versions of AVG anti-virus and AVG spyware. You can download them from majorgeeks. Go to Homepage and use search function about halfway down the page on the left. Search for AVG.

Bingo! The latest version of firefox is unstable with broken bookmarks etc. I surfed the net to see why I had to remove ff three times before i put on an older version from their website. I like ff because of the extensions like Ad Block Plus. I can surf faster with no ads to load.

    Interesting!

Haven't experienced anything like that, and I'm on the latest version. But I have had problems with Firefox crashing lately. But my computer has been very unstable lately, so I have just not really bothered about, with the rest of the misery...

So just to be on the safe side, after reading this, I did a more extensive scan and cleanup. Found nothing worse than a few tracking cookies and some registery keys. When I was done, the computer promptly crashed, told me Windows was missing .dll files and was unhappy in general. I told it not to be silly, they were there, it was just a matter of looking in the right place. Sure enough, computer booted properly. But next time I ran Firefox, it crashed... What a day! :banghead

(and no, this is not tech questions, just the every day rant, as it was sort of slightly, a little bit, fragmentarily, in the same line as the original topic... ;) )

Sometimes I wish I had knitting or origami for hobby instead! :D

It does seem to be a conflict between FF and the internet security system as i reported FF worked ok but would not let F SECURE do it's job so i can live without FF.

there is probably a very simple fix but i have given up looking.

    thanks for the replies:wave

Hrmm... I swear by my FF, but that is me, I just run a router and AVG with SpyBot and Adaware as my cleaning tools. I run a portable version of FF at work with no problems off a CD, and really no concerns.

*shrug* no idea why you haveing problems, but like others have said, if you got something that works, why fix it?? Just tweak it till it's broke :)

I've been running FF for about 4 weeks and a couple of weird things have happened - the worst, I couldn't boot into windows about a week ago.

After using an XP CD to boot up windows(without doing a repair) it cured itself. Or so it would seem.

I ran a post in software.

I swear by my Firefox too. I participate at the Mozilla forums and many there say that the virus is a false positive. But they also say you should download it from Mozilla's server. I just wait for the update pop-up alert. Never had a problem, ever.
