I've finally decided to get Firefox but want to make sure all traces of internet explorer are gone. How can i install firefox and make sure IE is completely a thing of the past?

    THanks

You need IE for Windows Updates. Also, you'll need IE to view some websites, not all load correctly in Firefox.

thanks for that. so i will have to keep all ie processes running then? does that not defeat the purpose?

As far as I knw, IE's processes only run when IE is open (or if some spyware is present on your computer). Firefox runs ny itself, no need to open IE at all.

Just keep both on your desktop so you can pop on over to ie if you can't load a particular page. It is a tiny bit inconvenient, but well worth it! I only I need ie for some company websites at work. :)

Yes, just set Firefox as your default browser. That's all you need to do.
