Firewall Test

Just had a quick question, looked through some posts and did not see this.

Since there are many "misleading and malicious" websites out there, is there a site in particular that MG knows about that is "safe" to goto and check your firewall?

I have switched from PC Tools to the firewall contained in the McAfee Security Center, and I want to ensure I am receiving the level of protection I should be getting. PC Tools' version would perdiodically disallow programs I had already given permission to, to access the internet, could be a Vista quirk who knows.

Anyhow, Firewalls are recommended in the Malware prevention sticky, however no link or recommended test site that is safe to goto should your protection not be up to snuff.

You are correct that we don't put any firewall test programs in the How to protect yourself thread. We don't feel this is necessary. Otherwise we would have to have ways of also testing antivirus and antispyware programs too and that is not our goal.

However over any period of time if you have gotten infected or have installed software that plays with your ports (or you may have also played with them - gamers do all the time ), then you could have issues.

There are more but the above should suffice.
