Firewall

When programs like MP3 Rocket ask you to leave Firewall open when downloading program, music etc is this normal practice and is this safe enough to do ? Many thanks Roseman in Oz :cool

 

Never, repeat never drop your Firewall, any site or program that ask's you to do that is nothing but TROUBLE, and always use your Anti-Virus Program to check any and all programs you "Download" from any site................All you have to do is visit Major Geeks "Malware Thread" to see what your in for if you don't. I absolutely agree. But if you look on some of the so-called "technical help" forums for some network games, they actually advise you to disable your firewall and antivirus to get the @#$% game networking going.

Also, I discovered that AVG Resident Shield does not load in windows safe mode boot.

 

Having run AVG for over a year, and had more problems with Anti-Virus's, than you can shake a stick at...............I personally recommend AntiVira Guard, with monthly checks at either BitDefender or Panda Online checks............AntiVira is available here at MG link http://majorgeeks.com/AntiVir_Personal_Edition_7_d955.html, the others you can easily GOOGLE


Just always remember, that your "Firewall" is your first "Defence", your Antivirus your second, then your "Back-Up" a "Reliable" on-line scan........Hope that Helps
