    I got Sygate Personal free firewall a few days ago and as you probably know when it first starts it keeps asking if you want to allow access etc etc. I clicked a few things without looking closely enough. The thing is a box keeps coming up saying blocked ntoskrnl.exe and Idon't know for sure if it's ok to ;
    1, leave it blocked
    2, tick the box to not keep telling me
    3,try to allow it. [not sure how to do that tho']
    4,reinstall Sygate
    For any help or suggestions thanks.

    The thingy mentioned that pops up is not in the applications list????? And everything in that list is "allowed". I've seen it blocked in the log, its ntoskrnl .
    Herein lies the cause of many people I know not wanting to get a firewall. You would think they could design a firewall that makes these decisions itself. A normal non-geek type person probably knows less than me even about these things and most would probably just turn off the firewall or uninstall it. So, if you are a manufacturer or developer[or whatever they are called] of firewalls, I suggest that you make 'em more user-freindly...... and then watch your sales rocket.
    Thanks for the help and advice btw. :)

    The link I gave you told you to block ntoskrnl (along with some others) not to allow it!

    Then what did the above mean? What is the thingy that you are referring to?
    Are you having any problems with something?

    re: thingy
    The balloon like pop-up message that's attached to the icon [sygates] by the clock.....bottom right hand corner.
    The only problem I have now is when it comes up and I tick the box not to keep showing me, it continues to do so.

    What is the exact full message that it is giving you? Is it alway the same message and for the same file?

    This is more than likely an issue for the Software Forum as it is not a malware problem. It is a software configuartion/setup/using issue.
