Firmware Detected Cmos Checksum Error

I have Read all the thread containing checksum errors, but unlucky me none were similar to mine.

I have Intel 102ggc with 2Gig Ram and I recently updated the bios, now when my Pc shuts down illegaly then it resets Date/Time and throws an error stating.

"The Firmware has detected that Cmos Checksum Error has occurred.
Press Enter to Continue..."

I changed Three Batteries none fixed the issue. The Cmos jumper is on the same place as it was before the Bios Update. I tried switching jumper then it would say put the jumper back Cmos is reset. Still the problem exists.

Please help me solve this issue if one can.

Did you back up the old BIOS?

If not, download it from whereever you got the new one and put it back.

 

No I haven't and installing old bios will effect the compatibility of RAMs, the old bios version will not support two RAMs of different Bus Speeds.

Any other idea?

 

Nor will any BIOS that I've heard of. You only have one bus!

In general the BIOS will accept two RAM modules of different speeds it's just that they will both run at the speed of the slowest RAM module, which is why if you install a large new module it is often not worthwhile putting back the old, even if you have a slot for it.

 

how about using one ram at a time? an seeing how it works out? (as testing)

this way maybe the Bios seems to accept the different bus speeds...but isnt really accepting it...

 

Hi Craz,

Studiot's suggestion to reload the original bios is excelent trouble shooting practice. You may find that the new BIOS was not the correct one.
