First computer build

    This is my first ground up computer build and i just want to make sure all my parts are compatable and just generally making sure im not overlooking something stupid. I havent decided on a case or power supply yet (how many watts?) and am wondering if antec is a good trusted brand. I was looking at the antec sp-500 for the modular cables. Any suggestions as to alternatives for any of the components are welcome.
