    It could be due to the file you deleted. Do you have a Tape Drive, for backup purposes, on this system. Or did it ever have one?

    Search your PC for tapeq and see if you get any matches!

    Yes, I know. Not all files are going to get a match on a search engine. It's tough. The approach I always use if you suspect something to be bad but are not sure is to rename the file. Then wait a few days at a minimum of running and booting the PC etc.

    If it is a valid device driver, chances are it is on a CD or a floppy (what's that ;) ) that came with the PC or other hardware.

    The Windows crash log may have more info. The even log may have info too.

    Did the search. Nothing called tapeq. Haven't had any problems since yesterday. Maybe it was just a fluke? Anyway, I don't think I have any kind of a tape drive on my pc. Will watch it for further problems. Thanks for the quick response.........Gracie

    Sounds like you may be okay now if you have not had anymore crashes.

    You would know if you had a Tape drive on your system. Most people do not but it is a form of backup that can be used.
