Hehe, not yet 17 until september, but my dad just took me up to a private carpark and I had my first driving experience!

We went forwards, backwards, and then a few mini circuits around the carpark.
Stalled about 5 times but hey, was great fun! :D

Twas my mum's Peugeot 306, 1.4litre. It has one tough clutch and a bad steering lock.

Just remember to take it easy on your Dad, if he offers constructive comment and instructions. Things are totally different when you are in the passenger seat with a new/beginning driver. :)

My first driving lesson, 15 years ago, was on an old nissan truck. Manual of course. Though, the best feature this truck had was: NO Powersteering!

Anyway, the truck is still working great. According to my parents that is.

My dad was great, helped so much.
I had a lot of fun and can't wait to go again next week, but for now I'm going to bed as I had 2 hours sleep last night (4:30am - 6:30am) and been busy all day.

    Good Night fellow geeks!!!

I have to say going driving with my step dad is a NIGHTMARE. Both when he is driving and I am driving. Seriously... he's been drivnig the hire car around this week and he's been totally thrashing the engine. 4.5k is NOT a good rev to change gear at for a Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa. The thing screams when he goes around corners... in first. He over-revs like crazy. Its not normal to go half way down a straight flat road in 2nd gear!

    Its really quite scary!

dude, you're talking about a diesel right?
my dad's renault hasn't got any problems with 4.5k rpm, but that's a gasoline powered thingy :)

Ok, lets put this into prespective. The red line starts at 4.7k rpm. It sounds awful. And he likes to dive in the middle of the road a lot.

Lol I only got up to 3000 revs yesterday and that sounded bad enough!

That's called "sportive driving" down here :p :D
I usually shift gears @ 3000rpm, unless I'm going on the freeway:)
