i have an Abit IC7-G mobo and a Vantec Iceberg all-in-one VGA/chipset hsf (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=993572&CatId=498) and the hsf wants to use pins or screws to seat itself into the mobo ... while the 875P chipset uses wires to hold the hsf in place ... and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to install it

the only thing i can think of is thermal paste ... but if the fan goes bad im screwed out of a mobo ... and i dont think those thermal stickers are good enough ... or using a paperclip to fasten it somehow, but that seems kinna ghetto to me, if not too flimsy to be functional

well, i won't recommend that since the vantec looks a bit too weak in the first place to cool those things down very well. but if you REALLY do want to use it (no, please don't use it!), you can always epoxy it on or use silicone sealant. both will do the job, but just make sure that there's thermal paste between the die and the heatsink.

but then what is a good chipset fan? i looked and looked and that was the best one i could find outside of water cooling and this microcool hsf, but that one isn't going to fit because my cpu hsf is too big, as the chipset fan must be less than 4cm high
