oh and another problem i just had is my viewsonic monitor wont show anything. Like when i turn the computer on it comes out of standby mode but nothing will come on the screen but windows loads normally cause i have tried a different monitor and it works fine and i have tried the viewsonic monitor on a different computer and it does the exact same thing. Thanks in advance

Here's a thought. How about putting proper punctuation in your sentences? Why do you expect the readers of your posts to make the extra effort needed to decipher numerous run-together sentences? Your first post contains not one comma, period, or upper case letter; the third post was not much better. You want help; you should make the effort to clearly write your posts.

Now, on the technical issues, your viewsonic monitor monitor does not work on your main computer and it also does not work on another computer. And, another monitor works on your main computer? Is that correct? If so, then obviously your viewsonic monitor is not working; it is defective.

In your first post, you say your computer will not start, will not boot up, since you plugged a flash drive into a USB port which caused your computer to shutdown. Then, in your last post, you say your computer works normal with a different monitor connected to it. So, what, exactly, is the current situation?

And, regarding the USB port mentioned in the first post, is that port on the computer itself, or was it on your viewsonic monitor? Some LCD monitors have USB ports.

Sorry about the bad punctuation, I am on a phone it is kinda hard. My deepest apologies. Ok 1st problem is that I plugged a flash drive into my front usb port on my tower and then the computer just turned off. The usb ports are connected properly as they have been working fine for over 6 months. After the computer turned off I took the flash drive out and turned the computer back on, it seems like it start all good but nothing comes on the monitor and the keyboard lights or mouse lights come on.

Now with the monitor that is on a different computer in the house. It was working fine until I turned the computer off and turned it back on. Once again I am sorry for the bad/no punctuation.

Sorry but I can not find the edit button while I am on the phone.
At the end of my first paragraph I was meant to say, the monitor does not come out of standby and the keyboard and mouse lights do not come on. I am very sorry for everything.

Are both mouse and keyboard attached to USB ports? When plugged in your flash drive and the computer shutdown, was the USB port on front of your computer?

Is the humidity low in the room where your computer sits? Is the floor carpeted? Do you ever notice any static electricity when you touch things?

When you opened the case and re-seated memory modules and the video card, did you take some precaution to avoid ESD (electrostatic discharge of static electricity)?

Has the computer any signs of freezing or locking up or failing to perform a startup when you press the power button before this USB problem happened?

Do you use a surge protector for your computer? Are you aware of any electrical storms of abnormal power fluctuations in your area around the time this happened?

Thanks heaps for replying. The room is all tiled, I have always used an anti-static wrist strap. The keyboard and mouse are both in usb ports, and i did plug the flash drive into the front usb port. It is the middle winter over here at the moment, so it is not hot in the room at all. The computer has been working fine before this problem, and the computer is through a surge protected 4-way power adapter.

I have pulled everything out of the computer including cpu and put it all onto another mboard and it all works. It is just something with this mboard that is not working. Could it have just blown something on the mboard when the flash drive got plugged in ?

    Thank You

Do you normally plug your flash drive into a USB port on front? Ever had problems with that before now? The front USB ports on my desktop computer are very sensitive to the slightest contact. If I connect a flash drive there, the computer may reboot. I've observed this is more likely to happen in winter when indoor humidity gets low, a condition conducive to static electricity, especially on carpeted floors. So, I run have two USB extension cords running up front from USB ports in back; they don't have the sensitivity that the front ones have. But, this has not damaged my motherboard.

Based on your testing, this does not look good. The evidence seems to point to either the motherboard or the power supply in your computer. See this: How to Tell When Computer Power Supply Is Failing

Do you have any case fans in your computer? Do they run when you try to start the computer?

Yeh i normally plug flash drives into the front with no troubles.

I do have case fans and they are working normally.

Psu seems to be working fine As I ended up getting annoyed and buying a new Mobo and everything works fine.

    Thanks for replying once again.

Yeh sucks cause it seems like a waste of a good mobo but oh well I can't do much now.

With the monitor problem I plugged it about 30 mins ago and there is the faintest of images on it. I change the brightness and contrast and still nothing.

Would it be the backlighting has gone from it??

    Thanks again for replies
