alright, so I just bought a new pc, and everything is running smoothly except one thing. I can run flash player through my browsers, but I can't run any of the games I have saved onto my hard drive. I can't seem to find the flashplayer in order to open the files. I am running xp pro and The install downloads it to windows/sys32/macromed. but in that folder there is no player, just a helper that tells me to install the latest version. Which I have done, uninstalled, reinstalled, but can't find the player. help please.

I suspect you may have some trouble getting help; I think your problem may be very unusual. To many computer users, including me, Flash Player is used only as a browser plug-in.

Perhaps it would help if you name one or more games you're trying to play, and exactly where you download them from. I'd guess they come from Macromedia, but can you confirm that?

And, apparently, you need a specific download of a Flash Player that works outside of a web browser. Right? Exactly where do you get that download?

Have you visited the appropriate website and looked for an FAQ or other online support area? Perhaps they have their own support forum. Perhaps support via email is available. Are these games all free or do you pay for them?

I never downloaded any specific version of flash player on my old pc. The games just worked the first time I tried to play them.

As for the games, I got them on a cd from a friend of mine. I don't really see how the names of the games are going to help you figure out how to help me.

The Stand Alone Novice is talking about should be in your "Program File" on your root drive under "Adobe" as it is their licensed program, if that helps night_incarnate

The only thing in the adobe folder in program files is acrobat reader.

I tried shockwave anyway, but they are definitely flash files. swf format. When I updated flash player on my old pc many months ago, they were automatically associated with the flash player and ran fine.

I even downloaded IrfanView and tried to use that program, which supports swf files. I got slightly better results as it played the games, but acts as if I am holding down all of the buttons on the keyboard and mouse. This is getting really annoying....
