    Hey everyone,

having a problem with flash not being recognized as the newest version.
Flash is installed and working fine on most sites, but megavideo among a few others give me the following message:

This only started happening today, worked perfectly up until now.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the latest version of flash twice. I first used ccleaner to uninstall and the second time downloaded an uninstaller from adobe.. The installation was successful each time, yet the problem persists.

It is the same in explorer and firefox which I found odd. Firefox is my primary browser.

I am using firefox 9.0.1 which is the latest version, plus I have flash 11.1.102.55 which is also the newest release.

Any ideas much appreciated, thank you.

    M :)

I had a similar problem a while ago. The way I solved it was to go to the site. I was in an admin account. Then I let firefox download the plugin and install it. I did not uninstall the plugin. I let flash install over the existing flash plugin. Then everything went back to normal. Not sure if this would work for you though.

I just tried as you suggested and let flash install over the existing flash plugin (it was two instances of the same version though). Nothing has changed, still getting the update request.

Thanks for the suggestion tho tgell (hello :)), you have helped me out before, I very much appreciate it.

You might want to try the adobe flash uninstaller and then let firefox do a download and install or do a system restore before the problem happened.

    Adobe flash uninstaller.

Edit: after the install, restart your computer. Then see if it works.

What version of windows are you running? (I'll do some searching once I know the OS).
I just went to megavideo with FF 9.0.1 and had no problem on my XP and Win 7 computers.

    Did you go here http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
to be sure that Adobe shows you are running the latest version? (You need to try it separately in each browser you have installed).

I tried what you said Tgell, just restarted and tried megavideo but still no change.

At Plodr, I am using windows vista home basic - 32 bit with service pack 1

I went to the adobe site, it tells me adobe flash player is successfully installed and:

    You have version 11,1,102,55 installed

As I said, flash is working fine on youtube and most other sites. There are just a selected few that have mysteriously stopped working today.

If you have any info at all I'll be very glad of it as I have no clue what could be causing this weird problem.

    Cheers dudes

If you have some kind of anti-spyware or ad-blocking make sure your site is in the white list. Also check your Hosts file and see if any of the sites that are not working is there.

Sell this link and look under Flash player not working on certain websites.Pay special note to the Hosts file in other solutions

Hey, I have tried the following so far with no change:

I disabled all my firefox extensions to make sure nothing was conflicting.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both manually and with the adobe uninstaller. Also tried installing over the existing install.

Disabled the hosts file although all it contained was

I flushed the dns cache and lastly tried it with a disabled firewall.

As I said before, this is happening in IE and firefox, both with the newest versions of flash. Any ideas what else could be causing this problem, it is very frustrating. Could it be something to do with vista itself, or would it only be browser related?

I searched last night and found threads with people complaining that the megavideo site is throwing up the same error for them within the past few days.
I know it is small consolation that you are not alone but I think it is a site problem since it happens on not just your computer.

I missed the part about both IE and Firefox being affected.

If you go into control panel there should be a Flash Icon if you use small icons instead of category. Under the Storage tab select delete all. Then under the Advanced tab select delete all for Browser Data and Settings.

Edit: As plodr said, it could very well be a website issue that affects only certain people. Myself, I am able to watch Megavideo on my computer with no problem so it must be some kind of conflict.

    Hello again guys,

well I have tried all the suggestions given, along with a few other things and the problem persists.

I considered doing a system restore, but feel it might be a waste of time as
I think it must be something to do with the site itself. So I am gonna leave it for now and see if megavideo fixes the problem.

Unless there are any other known solutions.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

    :)

My last idea would be to create a new user profile and see if you can now watch videos. If that does not work, I am out of other ideas other than the system restore.
