    Hello
I was advised here to remove flash due to its insecurity.
I have done so but find much of what I want to view cannot be seen. is there a substitution for it.
I think it was imbedded in my Win8 x 64 which I did not realize and don't know how to retrieve it. The web has me going around in circles regarding active x, installer, etc.
    Thank you
    Peter

There is no replacement for Flash as it is a proprietary technology. I don't know who advised you to remove it but I personally wouldn't have suggested that.

I suggest you reinstall it, as long as you install a flash blocker extension on your browser so that only the flash you allow is played.

There was advice recently to remove Java but I can't recall any concerning Flash. Per the advice from collinsl, I use Click to Run in Chrome so that both Java and Flash have to request permission first.

Since flash came installed with IE 10 in Windows 8, I can find nothing to install it for that version of IE. There are only downloads to update it.

You might have to use one of your windows 8 backups and go to a time when flash was installed.

Flash on IE10 for Windows 8 is maintained by Windows Update. Try running WU and see if it reinstalls it.

I wonder if "refresh" or sfc with the disc in would reinstall it?

Thank you all for your help.

Have you tried doing as pwillener suggested in post #5 - running Windows Update?

Or a System Restore should do it.

Although Macrium did not go back that far I had an old Win 8 Image program that had flash.

My question is, during the recovery it asks if you want to format before continuing. Should I?
I already recovered and did not format but if it makes a difference I will do it again.

    Hello
I made an error for which I apologize; my wife reminded me that it was Java not Flash I should uninstall for security.
    Earthling had pointed that out.
Although Macrium only went back a bit I always keep an older Win 8 native image quite a bit back and Flash was there so I am all set. The two pcs are up and running again with Flash.
Thank you again for your patience.

P.S. Btw, the answer to my previous post is format to a new hard drive but not to the one you are imaging to.
