    Hello and thank you ahead of time;
    I have a dell dimension system with 120 mg and 160 mghz speed 6 gb hard drive and win 98 second edition along with which I share with mozilla firefox.
    recently I started getting strange errors on win98 during times when I was using it I managed to fix each one by determining that they were some type of spywear that was eliminated by using "hijackthis". however this one that I am now seeing has me baffled (flash9.ocx) I read it has something to do with macromedia and the screen saver that I am currently using. the error in win98 is disconnecting me in win98 and throwing me off the browser repeatedly. if anybody can help I would appreciate it .

    hello;
    no, I'm sorry! the error was a miscosoft system error. as such.

    flash9.ocx at 018f: 78001253
    the rest looked like dumped registers as it appeared in a page fault error then windows hung up and I had to reboot at that point to reset the system correctly. this error would not go away and it keep hanging up the system at different times during each session. I hope this makes things a little clearer. AsI daid before perhaps it has something to do with my screensaver which uses macromedia flash or flash6 has been a big problem to many people using it.

    thanks zbd21;
    you really helped me out in finding the way to figure out the methodology in finding how to alleviate these error I was getting in internet explorer. the two culprits were msvcrt.dll from my stopzilla software is was a 'dHo' type entry which gave an invalid page format error. the second was the one you spotted
    withe the flash9 application by macromedia. that created the "ocx" component. When I ran an routine called "hijackthis" it showed me those entries and I removed them like I did withe the "DHO" entry but the "DHo" for some strange reason kept comming back. I kept getting system errors each time it reappeared and I deleted it again. finally I removed it perminently from the system and now explorer and firefox are happy once again. thanks for the learning ability in this .

    Its not wise to just remove things using hijackthis if you don't know exactly what your doing because hijackthis can and will remove things that may be nesscary for your computer to run. Just a heads up warning too ya.
