Flashing Internet

When I switched off my computer last night about 2 hours later the green internet light on the router starting flashing this carried on for about 30mins and since then it as been ok this is the first time this as happened on this Thompson router.

This may be due to the router updating itself, or storing settings, is this router a wireless one??? is its connection secure?? i.e wep.wpa keyed??, what other devices if any are connected to it??. If you can give us a little more detail about this it will help us to come to some conclusion of this issue,you mentioned it was a thompson router, what model is it, has it got the latest firmware flash installed??, a neighbour of mine has a speedtouch that automatically updated itself and went through this sort of action,solid green dsl light and flashing internet light for around about 20-30 min's and they had nothing connected at that time, it turned out it was updating firewall rules and firmware.

Thanks for your reply the model Tomson No TG585 v7 if that makes sense it has a wireless connection which is not connected,I think it was updating like your neighbour did it as not happened again and there is no problem with my broadband good speed
